Pinehill Blondes top Ballymena show and sale with 2,500gns call

Progeny from Pinehill Blondes took the top price at Ballymena pedigree Blonde sale on Friday (11 April).

Supreme champion Pinehill Hooray Henry, bred by C Todd from Lisburn, made the day’s top price of 2,500gns when selling to Mr J Shaw, Dungannon. Weighing 1,028kg this April 2012 born male is sired by Edendale Jigsaw and is Palace daughter Hillhead Velma.

Achieving the second best price of 2,050gns was the October 2012-born bull Drumraymond Harold, bred by H and S Griffin from Toome, Co Antrim. Sired by Ark Diego he is out of the homebred cow Drumraymond Dana Harold and was bought by E McMenamin from Co. Fermanagh.

Messrs Griffin also made 2,000gns when selling their reserve male champion Drumraymond Ike to M McKenna, Ballymoney. Born in January 2013 he is sired by Budore Utah and is out of homebred heifer Drumraymond Efa.

At the same money was Silverwood Harold, bred by N McKnight. Born in August 2012 he is sired by Silverwood Flavio and is out of the Eder daughter Silverwood Ucca. Buyer was W Elliott from Whitecross, Armagh.

Also making 2,000gns was the Shanvally Dancer son Seaview Hugo from David and Gerard Stranney. The hammer fell to Mr J Keatley from Co. Londonderry

Females

Mr Keatley also purchased the May 2011-born Pinehill Gloria for 1,350gns. Sired by Whistley Dollar and out of a homebred dam, he was consigned by C Todd.

Heading home with the top-priced bull was the reserve female champion Pinehall Graceful, which sold for 1,350gns. This May 2011 in calf heifer out of homebred cow Pinehill Carla .

Silverwood Honor born bred by N McKnight was knocked down to S Kirkpatrick, Co Antrim, for 1,320gns.

The Islandhill Billy daughter Drumraymond Iris sold to  Mrs M Curran from Co. Down for 900gns.

Averages: Five bulls, 2,100gns; four females, 993gns.
