Dairy trade tops £3,000 at Skipton

Dairy trade peaked at £3,000 at Craven Dairy Auction’s July show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart this week (14 July).

 

Top price went to David and Claire Lawson, Arthington, for their champion, freshly calved heifer. Sired by Bomaz Homestead she sold to Stephen and Edward Jeanes, Glusburn, giving 32 litres.

 

The reserve champion from J and J Whittaker, Laneshawbridge. This second calver, by the stock bull Joylan Crackerjack, sold to Pat Gratton, Brimham, for £1,820, just 27 days calved and giving 25kgs.

 

Overall 52 freshly calved, pedigree heifers averaged £1,922, while commercial counterparts averaged £1,650.
