Sedgemoor dairy trade tops at 3,000gns

Dairy trade topped at 3,000gns at Sedgemoor’s Top 10% and Seasonality Sale on Tuesday (19 August).

Price leading bull, Panda Challenger, from Westwood farms, Somerset, is the only bull in Europe from show winning dam Ms Chastity Domain Chaya ET VG88. His grand dam is Regancrest S Chassity and with a Type of 3.69. He joins Jimmy and Andrew Hull’s Fortland herd, Lancashire.

Fresh milkers sold to 2,280gns for the South West 2014 Herd Competition winners Dimond Farming Limited for their heifer Dorset Windbrook Caroline. Next at 2,150gns was RJ Goss’s Zellu Manifold Dinkie 3rd.

The top price cow came from BL Davies and Son. Second calver Davlea Melody Lulu 2nd GP83 went for 2,080gns.

RT Cox’s heifer Lamb Molton Magpie 13th was knocked down at 2,020gns

A large entry of 83 in-calf heifers sold to 1,960gns for DJ and AM Morris with Cloverfields Altarush Winkle, due September, and 1,760gns for Cloverfields Sleeman Rosie.

An entry of Brown Swiss milking cows and heifers from Plot Farm Partners sold to 1,800gns for a calved heifer Knole Hill Driver Isla.

PJ Andrews’ bull, Beneknowle Kralis, reaached 1,680gns, followed by  Guston M Butterby from Guston Holsteins for 1,550gns.

Bulling heifer trade topped at 1,150gns twice for Pitchbury Azure Norma and Desmond Bess by Cogent Azure and Cogent Desmond, Winscombe, North Somerset.
