Dairy trade at Frome tops £1,850

 

Calved heifers and cows met firm trade last Wednesday (27 August) at Frome, topping at £1,850 for AF Leighton’s freshly calved Holstein heifer.

Next at £1,760 and £1,730 were two more freshly calved Holstein heifer’s from the same vendor. Second lactation Holstein Friesians from AF Leighton also topped at £1,760.

And producing one of the brightest trade runs were his Dairy Shorthorn heifers, peaking at £1,730.

David and Simon Cheacker’s freshly calved Friesian heifer met a firm trade to £1,460, with more average quality heifers between £1,350 and £1,550.

Older Friesian cows sold well to £1,290 from regular vendor Brian Fielding. Well grown home bred Holstein Friesian bulling heifers presented by WJ Masters and Sons saw competitive bidding at £910, £850 and £835.

Holstein Friesian rearers sold well topping at £196 from MW and MR Giles, £188 from RG Curtis and £185 from SH Harris and Son. British Friesians topped at £122 and £120 from RH Groves and Sons, also at £122 were Fleckveih AK Apsey and Son.
