Roussin top 600gns at Borderway Mart

The annual show and sale of Roussin’s received a top call of 600gns at Borderway on Saturday (27 September).

Mr McCornick’s first prize and overall champion shearling ram from Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, was knocked down to GV Westwood, Dunning, Perth, for 600gns.

Next at 420gns was RD and AE Molyneux’s second prize ram lamb. He went home with the top priced lot to GV Westwood.

In a three way tie at 400gns a piece were two shearling rams again from Mr McCornick. The first of these, second prized shearling ram, was purchased by DJ Steen, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire. The second went home with Q Limond, Dalmellington, Ayrshire. The third, at the same money, was a ram lamb from the same consignor. He went home with A Kay and Son, Girvan, Ayrshire.

Top priced female was knocked down to 500gns. The first prized shearling gimmer of McCornick went to N Gillon, Girvan, Ayrshire.

Next at 450gns was RD and AE Molyneux’s second prized ewe lamb. She went home with GV Westwood for 450gns. Also heading to the same new home was a shearling gimmer from the same consignor for 410gns.

Averages: 19 shearling rams, £310.03; 19 ram lambs, £279.08; two aged rams, £283.50; 13 shearling gimmers, £235.04; 10 ewe lambs, £224.18.
