Stirling Suffolks hit 6,000gns

Stirling saw an entry of 290 Suffolk’s at their annual sale on Saturday (15 November).

Sale topper came from J G Douglas’ Cairness flock, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, at 6,000gns. The gimmer is by Cairness Diamond Geezer and was sold in-lamb to Mountford Mustang to Oliver Deane, Ballitore, Co Kildare.

Next at 5,000gns was a gimmer from Stuart G Mair and Sons Deveronside flock, Turriff, Aberdeenshire. Sired by Rhaeadr Roger Ram Jet and in-lamb to Rhaedr Red Devil, she is one of the leading family members that includes the 68,000gns King of Diamonds. Buyer was Rachel Wilson, also from Turriff.

Back to Mr Douglas’ Cairness flock for the third highest price of the day; another gimmer knocked down to 4,500gns. Sired by Cairness Diamond Jubilee, she sold in-lamb to Ballygarvanstud Flashdance. Buyer was D R F Farmers, Strichen, Fraserburgh.

Top priced ewe lamb fell to W H Sinnett and Sons, Stockton-on-Teme, Worcester, for 4,000gns. Sired by Whitestone Footprint, she sold to G Troup, Whitestone, Aberdeenshire.

Two more Rhaeadr Roger Ram Jet daughters from the Deveronside flock also sold well. Craig Paterson, Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire, bought one gimmer for 3,200gns. The next highest gimmer, at 3,000gns, sold to Ross Lawrence, Exeter, Devon.
