10,000gns high for cow and calf outfit at English Premier sale

A British Blue cow and calf outfit topped trade at 10,000gns at Saturday’s English Premier Sale of Aberdeen-Angus, British Blue, Lincoln Red, Salers and Simmental cattle at Newark.

Lot 142 Cromwell Gemini owned by Michele Wilde sold for 10,000gns

Sale topper Cromwell Gemini was an entry from Michelle Wilde’s Ridge Dean herd. The ET-bred black and white February 2011-born Tamhorn Sumo daughter, out of the Woodview Solo daughter Ballygrange Dido sold with a Cromwell Gunner calf at foot, Ridge Dean Jazz. Having ran with Ridge Dean Hero the outfit sold to Swindells Livestock, Brant Broughton, Lincoln.

Joining Gemini at her new home and taking the second top female call was the March 2014-born Ridge Dean Jessie at 3,500gns. This Kilowatt D’Ochain daughter is out of the Empire daughter Ridge Dean Della.

British Blue bulls sold to 5,000gns for Bear Dale Ivanhoe from Messrs Pilkington. By Henlli Wishmaster, he’s out of the Rosario daughter Almeley Flora and sold to K Hall, Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Also from the same home and trading at 4,200gns was Bear Dale Inuus, a full ET-bred brother to the last. He joined AC and KL Twell, Donnington, Shropshire.

Lincoln Reds

Lincoln Red bulls met a solid demand too, peaking at 4,500gns for the pre-sale junior and overall champion Highbarn Sotrm from Nick Barton. This June 2013-born bull is by Walmer Hermes and is out of a Beverley Dallas daughter Highbarn Harriot. He sold to R I Clough and Son, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.

Next best at 4,000gns was the first placed Springwood Sterling from Springwood Farm. By Dragoon and out of the St Fort Treasure daughter Hemingby Treasure, he went home with TAE and ARJ Dobbell, Wormingsford, Colchester.

Lincoln Red females sold to 2,200gns for the female champion Westacre Bianca from WAR Mallon. Born April 2013, this one is by Market Stainton King and out of Westacre Bianca, a Market Stainton Councillor daughter. She sold to C S Page, Newport, East Yorkshire.

X head Simmental

Simmental bulls realised 4,000gns for the second placed Theberton Electric from the Dowley family. This one is home bred on both sides and is by Theberton Wellington and out of a Burghbridge Keepsake daughter. He heads to PD Player, Whatton in the Vale, Nottinghamshire.

Next best was a call of 3,000gns on two occasions, the first being Julie Turvey’s Rathlee Ben, an Anatrim Jacob son out of a Hillcrest Champion daughter. He sold to J L Mee, Brindley, Nottinghamshire.

Also at this money was the reserve male champion Storesmith Einstein. By a homebred bull, he is out of a Blackford Falcon daughter and sold to WR Eales and Son, Peatling Magna, Leicestershire.

The Simmental female offering, saw a top price was 2,100gns for the second place Midhope Emma from the Hollingsworth family. This one is by Dirnanean Snowie and out of a Pasturehouse Paleface daughter. She sold having ran with the 10,000gns Delfur Chas and was bought by H Curtis and Son, Pensford, Bristol.

Leading Angus bull trade at 3,000gns were two bulls, first of which was the first prize Tree Bridge Jentry N425 from David and Penny Evans. This one is an Abberton Dazzle G160 son out of a Tree Bridge Edwin D076 daughter. He heads to SDJ Blagg, Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire.

The next at that money was Judy Gardner with Eckington Evan N227, a Nightingale Kash L609 son out of a Rawburn Elysium F547 daughter. This one carries a TSI of +44 and an SRI of +54 and heads to C W Foster, Bishop Wilton, Yorkshire.

Females topped 1,400gns for the female champion St Fort Etrilla N268 from Andrew Mylius. By Netherton Keystone G440, she’s out of a Fordafourie Kris B300 daughter and sold to J G Green and Sons, Messingham, Scunthorpe.

X head Salers

Top price in the Salers was a call of 2,900gns for Rigel Prospero from Rigel Pedigrees. By the French-bred Amazonien, he’s out of the Rigel Verona sired Rigel Pyrrhal and was bought by S J and A Payne, Ilkstone, Derby.
