8,300gns high for Simmy females at Carlisle

Females reached highs of 8,300gns at the Simmental spring show and sale last week, which included the leading ladies show and sale.

The Simmental breed society said it was the largest entry seen at Carlisle for many years with more than 40 females and 28 bulls forward.

Leading the female trade was Kilbride Farm Dora 65E, from W H Robson and Sons Ballyclare, County Antrim. The Cairnview Snazzy daughter sold in calf to Crugmelyn Brenin to David Donnelly, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Second top female price was the day’s champion female Midhope Everlight from W J Hollingsworth, Sheffield. A Delfur Chas daughter out of a Corskie Wealth daughter sold for 5,500gns to W J and J Green, Fochabers, Moray, for their Corskie herd.

Then at 4,100gns came Sterling Verity’s Dumandy from Boddington Estates, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This Sterling Viking 2nd daughter sold with her Sterling Cotswold calf at foot to Laura Green, Corskie Farm, Fochabers, Moray for her Garmouth herd.

Two Leading Ladies then traded at 3,600gns, first came Midhope Date, another from Mr W J Hollingsworth, a Corskie Wealth daughter out of a Dirnanean Snowie daughter, selling to J B Taylor, Webscott Farm, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Also at 3,600gns was Atlow Emerald from David Donnelly, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. This full sister to the top price heifer sold to Les Pennigton for his Penton herd, Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire.
At 3,500gns was an entry from Messrs W J and J Green, Fochabers, Moray, with Corskie Ebba, a Dirnanean Bradley daughter. She was sold in calf to Bel Dhu Capercaillie to T C Brown and sons, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire.

Bull Trade
Leading the bull trade was the reserve male champion Corskie Eterno from W J and J Green, Fochabers, Moray. This Dirnanean Bradley son is out of a Strathisla Nuggat daughter and sold for 6,200gns to Atkin Brothers, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Next at 6,000gns came the overall male champion from W J Hollingsworth, Midhopestones, Sheffield. Midhope Exceptional by Delfur Chas, is out of a Corskie Wealth daughter and sold into the Fircovert herd of Paul Gunther, Felthorpe Norwich.

Then at 5,200gns came Beechree Eclipse from DC Burkill, Driffield, East Yorkshire. A Keeldrum Schubert son out of a Kilbride Farm Barrister daughter, sold to David Hyslop, Biggar,Lanarkshire.

Two bulls then traded at 4,200gns, first was Swingletree Emporor from Alan Tallentire, Appleby, Cumbria. This Raceview King son is out of a Popes Laird daughter and sold to Messrs J H and V G Wood, Preston Lancashire.

Then from W H Robson and Sons, Ballyclare, County Antrim, came Kilbride Farm Eustace, a Cairnview Snazzy son out of a Kilbride Farm Vaten daughter, selling to Mr B and Mrs A Wise, Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
