Beef Shorthorn bulls sell to 4,200gns at Stirling

Beef Shorthorn bulls sold to a top of 4,200gns at the society’s official show and sale in Stirling on Monday (4 May).

Sale leader at 4,200gns was Balgay Guarded City TI +24, SRI +20, a two year old by the 13,000gns Chapelton Braveheart and out of a Fearn bred dam. Bred and exhibited by Balgay Farm, Inchture, Perth, he sold to WJ and J Green, Fochabers, Morayshire.

The same breeders were again in the money at 2,500gns when they offered Balgay Gaffer Leal TI +18, SRI +12, a same way bred two year old. The buyer was AN McInnes, Alford, Aberdeen.

The day’s second highest call at 3,000gns went to Langalbuinoch Gallant TI +12, SRI +13, a two year old Podehole Beefeater son from R. and P. McAlister, Kingarth, Bute. He sold to JDM Thomson, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie.

Two entries shared a 2,800gns price tag. The two-year-old Knockengij Glencoe TI +34, SRI +36, a Meonhill Charlie Chaplin son from David and Rosemary Dickie, Sanquhar ,changed hands with A McMillan, Rait Perth. The second 2,800gns bid came from Ormsary Farmers. Lochgilpead, Argyll, for the two-year-old Ardoyne Bombus son, Uppermill Jenson TI +31, SRI34, from James Porter, Dromore, Lisburn.

Averages: 12 bulls, £2,616.
