Heifer leads Welshpool British Blue sale with 5,000gns bid

A small selection of British Blue cattle sold to a top price of 5,000gns at the Society’s special autumn sale, Welshpool, on the weekend (Saturday 28 November).

Sale leader was the heifer, Tanat Jemma, from Wyn and Dianne Jones, Oswestry, Powys. She is one of the first offspring to be sold by Grommit Hof Ter Zilverberg and is out of the Bringglee Blackstar daughter Boomer Fendi. She has a carcase profitability Index of +16, within the top 15%.

She headed Co Clare with T O’Doherty.

Next best and making the top price of 4,000gns in the male section was the Newroddige herd of Messrs Mallaber and Wyllie, Tamworth, Staffordshire, with their bull Newroddige Jurassic.

This Mountjoy Utopia son is out of Tamhorn Foxtail Lily and sold to JA Wood and sons, Kinnerton Farm, Shrewsbury.

Dylan Rees sold Blue Stone Ipad, a Blue Stone Edward son for 3,000gns to I Tay, Penfathor Isaf, Pendaron, Powys.

At the same money was Tanat Jupiter again from Wyn and Dianne Jones. He won overall champion as a calf at the North West British Blue Cattle Breeder’s Club Calf Show. Sired by Adajio De Bray and out of Ridge Dean Emily, he sold to DE Lewis and Son, Abermithel, Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

Young breeder Sam Madeley’s achieved a top price of 2,800gns for his homebred heifer Glewstone Indigo, sired by Crackley Bank Fantabidosie. She sold to T Jones, Oswestry, Shropshire, having been AI’d to Cromwell Gunner in April.
