Kirkby Stephen beef breeding sale tops at £4,100

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen mart held their annual beef breeding sale where a catalogued entry of 558 head was on offer.

 

Topping the sale at £4100 was a great third calved pedigree Limousin cow sired by Haltcliffe Novel with a shapely Hafodlas Elgar sired Heifer calf at foot from local breeders Messrs D and V Hill, Whitewall Farm, Great Asby. This outfit was purchased by Messrs R Hutchinson and Son, Valley Farm, Bowes.

 

Topping the heifer and calf section at £3,500 was a Bazadaise heifer with a heifer calf at foot from Messrs Birkbeck, Castle Hill, Soulby. This lot was purchased by Messrs Dobson & Son, White Kirkley Farm, Frosterley.

 

Meanwhile topping the In-Calf section at £2,650 was a British Blue cross Heifer from Messrs Marwood, Long Green, Barningham, which was purchased by Messrs Nelson and Son, Bull and Cave, Clapham.

 

 

Heifers and calves averaged £2,206.04 which was up £101.72 on the year for 17 more sold.

Cows and Calves averaged £1,718.72 for 12 more sold on the year.

In calf heifers averaged 1711.38 for 120 sold.

In calf cows averaged £1179.41.
