Wexham Cup sale sees 7500gns top at Beeston

The Wexham Cup sale of Holstein Bulls at Beeston Castle last week saw trade hit a high of 7500gns for Woodmarsh Zander from Mick and Jean Gould. This is a son of Regancrest Design out of a Goldwyn daughter from the Zandra family. This September 2009-born bull was knocked down after a flurry of bidding to Jim Reid for the Bengal herd, Lockerbie.

Second best on the day was a 3600gns sale for Bidlea Tag Taurus, a June 2009-born Matson son from Ray Brown and Partners, Holmes Chapel. He is out of an Ex94 classified dam bred in the Tagasling herd. This was bought by J and E Wilson and Son, Kircudbright.

Then selling at 3400gns was the Wexham Cup winner, another from the Gould family’s herd, Woodmarsh Medley, a Bolivia Allen sired bull bred from eight generations of VG and Ex classified dams. He sold to J E Brown and Sons, Elton.

Making 3300gns was another from the same good home, Woodmarsh Mervyn, another by Bolivia Allen. He sold to R Maskell and Partners, Talog, for the Gest herd. Also making this price was Riverdane Abion Red, a Fradon Redliner son from Mark and Sue Nutsford. This one, out of an Ex91 dam sold to W Heron and Sons, Appleby.

And trading at 3050gns was Winton Black Rock from Peter Waring, Beverley. This one is a June 2009-born son of homebred sire Winton Rubam and sold to Messrs Hadfield, Buxton.
