I’m a journalist and novelist who grew up in the countryside.
I always wanted to be involved in farming, went to agricultural college and have now worked for Farmers Weekly for 13 years (I was obviously only six when I started!)
That’s my day-job. In my spare time, I write fiction and have had two novels published by Piatkus and Time Warner in the UK and the US.
Here are five quick facts about me:
* I used to keep ferrets (and, no, they never got put down my trousers).
* My favourite country walk is a circuit of the beautiful Derwent Water in Cumbria.
* Both my novels, Stag and Home, are available on Amazon (sorry, couldn't resist that one!)
* The most bizarre journalistic assignment I’ve even been on involved filming six burly rural guys strip in a village hall in Cumbria, the most interesting person I’ve ever interviewed was Two Fat Ladies chef Clarissa Dickson Wright, and the most embarrassing moment of my career was turning up at completely the wrong farm for a big interview. On the wrong day.
* Apologies if I talk too much about my cats, Nutmeg and Parsley (Nutters and Pars, to their friends.)

My finger (but not my ferret).

My cats.

My second novel.
