One of the nicest meals I've ever had was pheasant with a cobnut stuffing.

And I'm not the only one with a taste for game, as new stats show sales of meats such as venison, pheasant and grouse soared 46% between 2004 and 2006.

Retail boffins at the market research firm Mintel put the rise partly down to the ever-increasing number of people who fancy "trying something different".

There's lots of information about game - including some great recipes - at this site.
