Torquay talk

Well, here we are then. In Torquay for one of my favourite weekends of the year: the National Federation of Young Farmers' annual convention.

It all got underway this afternoon and if you're wondering what on earth I'm doing writing a blog post at 10pm well, don't worry, this will only be a quick one while I'm wolfing something to eat and putting my dancing shoes on and then it's out to see the sights of Torquay.

There are nearly 4000 young farmers from across England and Wales in the Devon town. I spotted the first lot in the Fleet services on the M3: the pink shirts of Suffolk Young Farmers.

Farmers Weekly's arable reporter, Paul Spackman - my partner in crime for the weekend - made his first sighting of Torquay-bound Young Farmers before he even got out of London, in Paddington station.

Keep an eye on Field Day and FWi for news of the weekend as it happens. We'll bring you all the action from the agm, the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Forum, the Drama Competition, the Disco Dancing competition and all the other events.

Right now, though, it's off to the Riviera Centre for an event celebrating the NFYFC's 75th anniversary. Better dust down my dj, because tonight's black tie.
