Most people know him as captain of the England rugby team, but a less well-known fact is that Phil Vickery is farmer’s son from a traditional agricultural background.

The prop, who grew up on a family dairy farm in Cornwall, is still a passionate supporter of the countryside.

The man who’ll be facing South Africa in this weekend’s World Cup Final even reckons the discipline that farming gave him from an early age has helped his sports career.

Nowadays, when the 31-year-old isn’t on the rugby pitch, he runs the Raging Bull clothing business from Gloucestershire.

The firm's name is yet another allusion to his rural roots - he earned the nickname ‘Raging Bull’ when he first moved to Gloucester Rugby Club because of his aggressive style of play and his farm background.

If you’re interested in stats, Phil is 6'3", 19st and has a 50 inch chest.

And just in case that wasn’t intimidating enough in itself, he also has an Oriental tattoo on his shoulder which translates to: “I will fight you to the death.”
