My old school was pretty rubbish.
About its only claim to fame is that it was the school that recently hit the headlines when the teachers wrote spoof reports on the kids (one of them then proceeded to leave one on a bus!)
I wish I could claim it has lots of famous ex-pupils, but sadly not. The nearest most of my old contemporaries get to fame is appearing in the local paper – usually after an incident involving the local constabulary.
The only (vaguely) famous people to have been there are the singer from the band Tight Fit that did that awful In the Jungle song back in the 1980s and Gary Rhodes.
So I’m always interested when I see the spikey-haired one in the news (even though he’s not my favourite Celebrity chef, that particular accolade goes to CDW).
His latest farming-related initiative has been being involved with UKTV’s Local Food Hero competition.
The winner was James Hague of Daisy’s Dairy near Hook in Hampshire, pictured here with my old mate Gary (actually, I've never met the bloke).
PS: Mr Edwards, in the unlikely event that you’re reading this, it was Mark Garrison who broke the window not me!
