Today’s been brilliant.
It’s probably the only time I’ll ever spend a day with a world-class hairdresser and fashion stylist.
The day, however, was about our three agricultural students who'd won the makeover. They entered into the spirit of it, had their hair totally restyled and were dressed in clothes worth thousands of pounds (no, they didn’t get to take them home - although one did joke about making a run for it, then flogging it on eBay!)
Now farmers aren’t generally regarded as style icons - and students are pretty universally known for their scruffiness - so our three agricultural college students would be the first to admit they had some - how shall I put this delicately - room for improvement. Fact is, though, all three looked just stunning after their top-to-toe once-over.
I’ll post lots of ‘before, during and after’ pictures of them as soon as we’ve got some available. In the meantime here’s a quick snap of me (left) with the competition organiser Andrew Shirley (second from right) and some of the makeover team including stylist Bernard Connolly (far right) and ace snipper Victor Pajak of the swanky Headquarters salon (second from left).
Bernard has styled, among others, the late Princess of Wales, Ivana Trump and Jerry Hall; while Victor has won countless awards for his work.
Looking at a photo of myself and Andrew with them - an expression involving fish and water and the former being out of the latter springs to mind!
