The Paris Hilton effect

I once slagged off pugs on this blog and got some extremely waspish emails.

As far as I’m concerned, though, they do look like maggots. Obviously a lot of people disagree with me though because figures from the kennel show small breeds like the pug, shi tzu and pomeranian are thriving.

It’s part of a bigger trend which shows British dogs such as spaniels and setters falling in popularity, replaced by breeds favoured by celebrities – the handbag-sized ‘toy dogs’ carried by such stars as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

The Kennel Club reckons breeds at risk in Britain now include the bloodhound, Irish red and white setter and the Field Spaniel.

I’m afraid I’m not a fan of small dogs. Which reminds me: don’t forget there’s that programme about roadkill on tv tonight.

I think if you have a dog which you have to permanently carry around, both you and the dog should be humanely put down.

I know, it's a bit extreme, but do you not think the world would be a better place without the likes of Paris Hilton?...or would we not have anyone to look down on intellectually?

I think Paris is very cute and i love the way she's dressed... yeah i'm on her side
