Anyone read The Farm by Richard Benson?
I have - and I loved it, although I've got a bit of a vested interest as I do know Richard.
As you may know, it was a bestselling autobiography which made it onto the the Richard and Judy Book Club in 2006.
Theatre fans will be pleased to know it's now been adapted for the stage and will be at the Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham from April 24-26 prior to a six week regional rural tour of the East Midlands.
Dubbed ‘painful though often funny’, the book describes how big business has changed the English countryside and how the Benson family adapted to new challenges on their Yorkshire farm.
Here's what the promoters are saying about it:
"Farming hadn't come easily to Richard Benson, so after a childhood spent crashing tractors and being outwitted by various farmyard animals on his parents’ Yorkshire farm, he became a journalist in London. When the Benson family are forced to sell their farm after two hundred years he returned home and found himself propelled into a lost world of runaway pigs, love among the haystacks and men who wrestle bulls to prove a point."

The photo is Richard and his sister with their dad on the farm in 1973. Bless!
