Now as you know, I like a spot of fishing - even if recent my recent endeavours suggest I'm rubbish at it.

So I was interested to see that two stretches of river with fishing rights in the Cotswolds will go under the hammer soon.

The first, at Bourton-on-the-Water, includes over one mile of fishing rights on the River Dikler, a well-known trout stream. It comprises 350 yards of double bank and 1,400 yards of single bank set in over 31 acres of pastureland. It has a guide price of £300,000.

The second is a beautiful water meadow and fishing rights on the River Windrush near Burford in West Oxfordshire and has a guide price of £165,000. It includes 528 metres of single bank fishing rights in over 17 acres of land.

The two auctions take place on July 2 and July 10. For full details, see the agent's website.
