I can be a bit soppy when it come to animals, I'm the first to admit that.
But chicken jumpers? Come on!
This story, which has been in the headlines today, made me shake my head in disbelief. It even made me think of the word 'anthropomorphic' - although only briefly, because I'm not really sure what it means.
How can I put this politely? I suppose I'm just not sure there's any real need for this sort of thing.
Apparently, Women's Institute ladies are knitting the jumpers for the birds, which are kept on an allotment in Northamptonshire.

I've got a better suggestion for something to put a chicken in. A casserole dish.

Oh harsh, harsh...though you must admit they look kind of 'womanish' in a bizarre henish way.
I guess it was done out of pity as they all seem to be in moult - and having no feathers in the freezing temps would have a mite chilly.
Yes, see what you mean Paula... very female, somehow. And I certainly wouldn't like to see an animal freeze.
Frankly, I'm just terrified that those good ladies of the WI might think I've taken their name in vain. They're a formidable force!
I come from northamptonshire
the reason for this is due to the fact that they are ex battery hens.... they are basically bald! During the winter they need an extra layer or they can becime cold and ill! Hence the jumpers :)
Ive only got a couple of days still to go, until my little baby boy arrives. When will my nesting instincts start.
