Evoking farming

BOVINE POSTER.jpg

Here's a little prediction.

Will McGregor, a farmer's son from Norfolk, is going to be a star in the world of filmmaking one day.

The 21-year-old student is currently working on a short film called Bovine, which centres on a struggling farmer and his fight with TB, inspired by his experiences growing up on a farm.

"It's an honest look at the arduous life of a dairy farmer and his son, focusing on the duty to care for their cattle," Will tells me. "It's a duty that leads beyond simple stewardship to an appreciation for their animals that is heartfelt and unique."

Will, whose production company is called Evoke, is nearly there with the fundraising, so now plans to shoot it in September, with a view to releasing the 12-minute film around Christmas.

He's the youngest ever nominee for an award at the BAFTAs - here's a great short music video of his and, for those needing a bit of feel-good puppy cuteness, here's one about a dog.

I think his work's great.

Naturally, I'm expecting an invite to Cannes.
