A major exhibition focusing on the vital contribution of the Women's Land Army opens in Sussex this autumn.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of Second World War, Brighton Museum is creating The Land Girls: Cinderellas of the Soil.
There were over 75,000 such voluntary recruits in WWII, filling the void left by the enlisted men working in hard and physically challenging roles to provide food and agricultural supplies to the nation.
The exhibition, which runs from October 3 to March 14, looks at the contribution Sussex made, using personal stories, memories, propaganda, paintings, posters, photographs and other objects.
