News for foodies and TV lovers.
The original TV chef, Keith Floyd, died last night. Coincidentally, a documentary about him made by Keith Allen called Keith Meets Keith aired yesterday evening on C4.
The 65-year-old's influence on younger chefs, cooking and, indeed, TV was huge - but Robin Hood star Allen's portrayal will have done his reputation no good.
The man revealed himself to be maudlin, contradictory and offensive - and the tag 'hard-living', which previously usually prefixed the name Floyd, might now be replaced by 'hard-to-like'.
Meanwhile, reputations could be made rather than sullied in the new series of Masterchef: The Professionals, which started on BBC2 last night.
Even though the first batch of hopefuls were embarrassingly bad for so-called professionals, judge Michel Roux Jr, who co-presents with Greg Wallace, is always worth watching.
Michel had a new henchwoman last night, the altogether terryfying Monica, who's far fiercer than Alan Sugar's henchwoman, Margaret.
