Couple of TV programmes to look out for.

The painter Sir James Guthrie, a man who had a strong affinity for the countryside, will be discussed in A Portrait of Scotland next Monday (September 7) at 9pm on BBC Four. The 90-minute programme sees Peter Capaldi explore the story of Scotland's art.

One of Guthrie's best known works is A Hind's Daughter, which he painted in 1883.

A 'hind' was a skilled farm labourer and the painting depicts the girl cutting cabbages in the Berwickshire village of Cockburnspath. It's noted for its warm earth colours and the sense of connection between the girl and her environment.

Someone who's probably slightly less comfortable in the countrryside is WAG Louise Redknapp, who'll be presenting the new six-part series of Farmer Wants a Wife, which starts on September 16 at 9pm on FIVE.
