Apologies to Field Day fans who have been waiting with baited breath for all the latest news on the world of whimsy. Tim's on his holidays and I'm afraid I've been a bit slack in my stand-in duties.
Fear not, however, I've got some corking snippets to more than make up for the lack of posts.
To start, fair readers, I'm afraid I have to bring you some sad news. Chili, the UK's tallest Freisian steer, has popped his clogs.

Chilli stood at 6ft 6in and wieghed more than a ton. He had to be put
to sleep because he had arthritis, brought on by his massive frame.
Check out the picture of him:

That's not a tiny, Matthew Naylor-sized person stood next to him to make Chilli look massive, it's a normal person - Chilli was bloomin' whopping.
The sad passing of Chilli (and a very slow news day) got me thinking about other over-sized animals. And of course, this being the blog of cats, I felt compelled to Google the world's biggest domestic feline. Apparently, this hasn't been Photoshopped.

According to the slightly dodgy-looking website I found this photo on, Snowball, who lives in Ottowa, is 69 inches and weighs 87lbs. She eats 3lbs of cat food a day, as well as chicken and moose.
If it's a slow news day again tomorrow, I might Google other giant animals for your delight. Don't say I don't look after you when Tim's not here.
