Shock Goat Race result!

You might remember I blogged about the Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race last week. Well I’ve just got wind of the result.

Apparently Cambridge trotted to victory in a record race time of 56.9s, which is probably little consolation to the bona fide Cambridge rowers who finished behind Oxford in a rather more strenuous 17m 44s.

Here’s a shot taken in the last five metres of the race clearly showing Cambridge out in front, making it a hatrick of three wins in three years (thanks to Tyson Benton for the pic) .

goats_resized.jpgPerhaps Oxford should thinking about switching to a high-sugar grass variety in the lead up to next year’s event – a bit of extra energy might give Cambridge a run for their money.

Joking aside, organisers believe about 1,500 people turned up for the event. Which might make it a diversifcation worth thinking about.
