Ewe-sain bolt: It’s sheep racing in Moffat

Never mind the Olympics – yesterday a town in Dumfriesshire held a sheep racing contest.

Partly to mark its sheep farming and wool heritage, Moffat organised the event which saw knitted jockeys “riding” sheep and onlookers betting on runners and riders.

The brainchild of the Moffat Promotions Group, it could now become an annual competition.
