About Tim
I'm a journalist and novelist.
I grew up in the countryside and studied Agricultural Business Management before joining Farmers Weekly in the mid-1990s (I was obviously only six at the time!)
Since then, I've done a variety of jobs on the title, currently editing the Farmlife section of the magazine and the Rural Living area of the website.
I'm fascinated by the quirkier aspects of our weird and wonderful countryside, so launched this blog as a place to feature these stories. Here are five quick facts about me:
* I used to keep ferrets (and, no, I never put them down my trousers).
* My favourite country walk is a circuit of the beautiful Derwent Water in Cumbria.
* I've had two novels published by Piatkus and Time Warner in the UK and US.
* The most bizarre journalistic assignment I've even done was filming six burly rural guys strip in a village hall in Cumbria.
* I was once commissioned by Radio 4's Today programme to write a poem about polytunnels.
Hope you enjoy Field Day. I'd love to hear from you - so let me know if there's anything you'd like to see me cover more of (or, indeed, less of). Email me at tim.relf@rbi.co.uk
