Olympics drive prices at Sedgemoor

An increased entry of 200 prime cattle at Greenslade Taylor Hunt, met a dear trade with fresh meat being sourced for the Olympics despite quality not quite up to the levels of previous weeks.

Top price was 218p/kg for a shapely and lean roan Blue heifer from Messrs J and J Meaker and Son who also sold two shapely, lean, white Charolais steers at 207.5p/kg and 203.5p/kg. Another top drawer run of Limousin steers from Mr A R Henson peaked at 215.5p/kg, when others rose to 200.5p/kg.

A good run of well fed, quality steers from Messrs J and S Vinnicombe and Son sold well at 215.5p/kg, 209.5p/kg and 209p/kg.

A tremendous run of black, lean, clean type Limousin heifers from Mr A L Hobbs met voracious competition at a 212.5p/kg high.

The best cattle on offer all generally sold around or above 200ppk.
