PROTECTION WITH EPONA AND JOCKEY SEED TREATMENTS
With new races of yellow rust in varieties of wheat previously resistant to yellow rust, coupled with a high number of varieties on the HGCA Recommended List known to be susceptible to yellow rust, a robust rust management programme for the coming season should be top of the agenda. It is estimated that a minimum of 30% of the acreage will be highly susceptible to yellow rust and over 40% highly susceptible to brown rust. The threat of yellow rust this season could also be compounded further by the green bridge effect, particularly in early drilling situations.
Seed treatments Epona and Jockey (fluquinconazole + prochloraz)help to break the green bridge and protect varieties into the spring.
Key
benefits of Epona and Jockey:
- Protection against early and late season yellow rust
- Delays development of Septoria tritici and brown rust by an average of six weeks
- Seed- and soil-borne disease control
- Manages risk with susceptible varieties
- Improves rooting and increases resistance to root lodging
- Consistent yield benefit of 0.4 t/ha and up to 0.7 t/ha, respectively
- No impact on crop establishment
Jockey (targeted at second wheats) also provides good control of
take-all and increased rooting benefits.
