CCW to reveal buyer in spring

The buyer of the 23,315-acre Lake Vyrnwy Estate in Powys, mid Wales, is due to be revealed later this spring. Current owner, Seven Trent Water, had been expected to announce its choice of buyer this month but now needs more time to assess information on the offers received.

The biggest single land sale for a generation, Lake Vyrnwy, was put on the market in July last year with a guide price of £11m for a 125-year lease, to include the Lake Vyrnwy reservoir, which supplies the city of Liverpool with drinking water.

The estate is being marketed in four lots by Knight Frank, and once the buyer has been selected there will be a three-month consultation process with the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW).
