CLA Game Fair hit by traffic chaos

Organisers of the Country Land and Business Association Game Fair have been forced to defend their traffic arrangements after visitors to the event were met with traffic chaos.

Traffic was at a standstill on major and minor roads approaching the showground, with the A34, A44, A40 and A420 gridlocked.

Journeys that should have taken 15 minutes took well over two hours, with frustrated drivers, unable to move in the queues, getting out of their cars.

Show organisers said they had spent ÂŁ50,000 on traffic systems, and blamed rush-hour traffic and an accident for the jams.

A show spokesman said Friday was always the worst day. “It won’t be like this tonight or over the weekend.”

Local radio stations ran extra traffic bulletins in a bid to help increasingly angry motorists.
