Dairy UK and the British Cheese Board (BCB) have merged in a bid to strengthen the voice of the cheese industry.

The merger was formally announced at this week’s Nantwich International Cheese Show (29-30 July) and has apparently been strongly backed by cheese-makers.

Nigel White, secretary of the BCB said Dairy UK’s new cheese members would be welcomed into its Cheese Group and were expected to play a full role in the work of the organisation as a whole.

More Dairy UK members with cheese interests would also contribute to, and benefit from, the promotion of the cheese sector under the BCB brand in the future.

“This initiative will deliver a more joined-up approach to working on behalf of the cheese industry,” he added. “Members will benefit from the professional lobbying and technical expertise of Dairy UK as well as the consumer facing work undertaken by the British Cheese Board.”
