DOUBTS RAISED OVER DIRECT DEBIT OPTION

DOUBTS RAISED OVER DIRECT DEBIT OPTION

FARMERS FOR Action members in Northern Ireland are unhappy about setting up an open direct debit to the National Fallen Stock Company.

The matter was debated at a meeting in Omagh on Monday, and all the 50 farmers present said they would not join the collection scheme because of this issue alone.

The other big issue on people’s minds was inaccessible areas. Several of the farmers at the meeting farm in areas they describe as inaccessible, so FFA has decided to keep pushing for a derogation to help such producers.

Another vote was taken on FFAs campaign to pursue the option to bury as a farmer’s human right to protect his family from zoonotic-type diseases. Again there was an overwhelming majority in favour.
