Farming family buys Oxon unit for over £3.8m

DREWEATT NEATE and Strutt & Parker have clinched a deal on one of the larger properties to be launched in the south of England this autumn.

Priors Court Farm at West Hanney, near Wantage, Oxon, went on the market in September and the 637-acre arable unit, which was guided at 3.8m, attracted interested as a whole and in nine lots, said Dreweatt Neate”s Simon Pallet.

“We put a guide of 2500/acre on the bare land and had more than a dozen offers substantially in excess of that figure. However, the farm sold as a whole for significantly over its guide price.”

Mr Pallett said the purchaser was a local farming family. The farm included an eight-bedroom Grade II listed farmhouse, a two-bed cottage and 2500t of grain storage.
