Foot and Mouth disease has been confirmed at the slaughter on suspicion premises in Surrey where sheep, pigs and cattle were culled last night.

This is the fifth infected premises identified since 3 August this year, DEFRA has announced.

Foot and mouth lesions were found when the animals were examined at slaughter. Results of further laboratory tests are awaited, a spokeswoman said.
