Free workshops to improve efficiency and profitability in the lamb supply chain are being offered to Scottish lamb producers.
The workshops are intended to add value, reduce waste and develop a more competitive, profitable Scottish sheep sector.
Three regional producer groups will each host seven workshops, where participants can hear about issues and opportunities for improvement in the supply chain. Speakers will include producers, hauliers, processors, retailers and industry experts.
The workshops are a result of work during the 2012-13 lamb marketing season, which found the lack of an integrated, collaborative supply chain was keeping margins tight for all within it.
Workshops are funded by QMS, Farm Stock (Scotland) and the Scottish Government Skills Development Scheme and facilitated by SAC Consulting (part of SRUC). The first workshops will run on 28 January in Carfraemill, 30 January in Thornhill and 27 February in Falkirk. To book contact QMS on 0131 472 4040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
