Irish company Adams Food Ingredients (AFI) has bought a £1.2m ingredients business from Dairy Crest.
AFI, a subsidiary of the Irish Dairy Board, has purchased the business and assets of Crewe-based firm FoodTec UK Limited.
FoodTec is a specialist powder blending company that makes gluten-free, bakery and other specialist nutrition products.
AFI managing director Gary Wells said the acquisition would play a key role in the future growth of both businesses.
“Through out shared synergies we can add significant value to our customers’ businesses and we look forward to building strong relationships together,” he said.
The Irish Dairy Board markets and sells dairy products on behalf of its members, Ireland’s dairy processors and farmers.
It exports about 60% of Ireland’s dairy products, including top brands like Pilgrims Choice cheese and Kerrygold butter.
