Keen competition at auction sales

Demand is high for all types of and sizes of agricultural land, said Bagshaws’ Bakewell office following its recent auction.

This saw nine lots of farmland and woodland sold with a block of almost 20 acres of grassland at Smalldale near Buxton, making ÂŁ179,000, equivalent to ÂŁ8,985/acre.

Small parcels made up to ÂŁ12,955/acre while just over 30 acres of arable and woodland at Brimington reached ÂŁ150,000 or ÂŁ4,897/acre.

The strong interest in amenity woodland continues, with two small parcels totalling just 0.6 acres at Middleton by Youlgreave selling for ÂŁ7,000.
