Miss America heifer takes crown at Lancaster event

A smart heifer from the famous Miss America family, from Robert and Elaine Butterfield’s Ingleview herd, produced a 4000gns top price at the Lancaster Holstein Dairy show and sale.


Ingleview Miss America PI 21st, from the Butterfields’ herd at Bentham, Lancaster, is by Ingleview Rockstar and out of a dam by Jolt.


She goes back to the famous Staffordshire Miss America through a milky Broker cow from the Hemble herd as third dam.


Calved just three days before the sale and giving 35kg, she was pulled out to take the championship and heads for the Co Down-based herd of Aubrey Paterson.


A calved heifer, bought-in as a calf, made it a double victory for the Butterfields, who took reserve title and 1550gns with Ardhall Doris 27th.


This Roylane Jordan daughter is out of a Maughlin Storm cow and had calved in mid-November.


She had given 1440kg of milk in 36 days at 3.75% fat and reached a yield of 40kg on sale day.


Peter Andrews’ Lyonshall herd in Herefordshire kicked off the day with a 2400gns bid.


It bought him another from the Butterfields’ consignment, Ingleview J A Dandy.


This third calver had given 9185kg with her second and is maternal sister to eight EX and six VG cows.


She is by Mr Jed Approval and out of a twice 10,000kg-plus Walkerbrae dam by Blackstar.


And also heading for the Lyonshall herd at 1500gns was the fresh second calver Fingan Permission Denise from Isle of Man vendor B Brumby.


By Sudesse Permission and with Formation and Lindy dams behind her, she gave 9200kg as a heifer and was giving 42.6kg on the day.


Top call for bulls was 1400gns for the Leduc son Berryholme Lemar from Helsington, Lancs, breeders H Wright & Son.


This August 2004-bred bull (PLI +48, PIN +45) is out of the 13,300kg Holmland Storm Flo who goes back to the great Cardsland Eclipse Flo. Buyer was Mr Bland, Gaisgill, Cumbria.
