New editor for Poultry World

Poultry World has a new editor, agricultural journalist Philip Clarke, who is moving over from sister title Farmers Weekly.

Philip has been working as Farmers Weekly’s economics and world editor for the past 18 months, and before that held roles as the magazine’s Europe editor and Business editor. He also writes a regular blog- Phil Clarke’s Business Blog – which covers the whole area of agri-business.

“My background is very much on the business and policy side of agriculture, which has included poultry issues from time to time,” he says.

“I freely admit I am now on a steep learning curve, but it is a challenge I am greatly looking forward to. There are many dynamic individuals and businesses within the poultry industry and I aim to get out in the first few weeks and months to meet as many of them as possible. I will, of course, be making the most of the Pig and Poultry Fair in May.

“Poultry World is a well-liked and respected magazine and the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, is one that I adhere to,” he adds. “But, given my background in business reporting, I am keen to enhance the business content and also to introduce more international aspects. There is also a lot to do with the online offering, including making it more interactive.”

Philip has a degree in agricultural economics from Reading University and has also worked on Big Farm Weekly and The Grocer in his 20-years plus as an agricultural journalist.
