An official report into the collapse of co-op Dairy Farmers of Britain will be published next week.

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee is due to publish the results of its inquiry on Tuesday (23 March).

Dairy Farmers of Britain called in the receivers in June 2009 after amassing debts of £100m.

Farmer suppliers were left with heavy losses and a number were forced to sell up because they could not find an alternative milk buyer.

The EFRA committee’s report will consider the impact of the collapse of DFoB on dairy farmers and the industry and DEFRA’s response to the crisis.

It will also look at the causes and lessons to be learned from the collapse of the business.
