The Rural Payments Agency has revealed that it has made a start in paying 2006 single farm payments.

The agency has issued a statement which says that a live test of the Single Payment Scheme software is underway.

“This has had the intended result of allowing a small number of full payments to be made to eligible claimants.

“Further final testing is scheduled to monitor the effectiveness of the payment process. An update of payments made under the 2006 SPS Scheme will be published in due course.”

An RPA spokesman said he was was unable to confirm how many people had been paid or how much money had been distributed at this stage.
