Schools wanting to enter Farmers Weekly’s Food Miles schools competition have less than two weeks to get their entries in.

The competition, which closes on Monday 19 June, is challenging 7-11-year-olds to come up with a low food miles lunch box which focuses on seasonal, local food.

“We have already had some wonderful entries in, and we’re looking forward to judging them shortly,” said campaign director, Julian Gairdner. “But we’re keen for as many kids to enter as possible, and there’s still time. The competition is a great way to connect young children with the food they eat and is a fun and valuable way to inform them about important environmental issues.”

The winning entries will receive their awards and cheques in front of the press on Monday 3 July, at the Royal Show, Stoneleigh.
