DEMONSTRATING THE value brought by schemes such as Assured UK Malt, which differentiates UK malt from other suppliers, will be the key to competing on future world markets, according to the chairman of the Maltsters Association of Great Britain.

UK maltsters have taken up the challenge of growing demands for food safety and traceability by launching Assured UK Malt, the world’s first assurance standard for malt, said Euan Macpherson at the association’s annual general meeting.

“The initiative has been well received by customers, both at home and abroad. The challenge is to capitalise on this unique offer, and buyers need to recognise and reward the significant benefits offered by UK malt,” he said.
