A 22ha solar farm in Wiltshire faces the prospect of being dismantled after the site’s planning permission was overturned in the High Court.

Local resident and millionaire owner of a nearby Grade II* listed building, Daniel Gerber, successfully argued that he had not been made aware of the Norrington Solar Farm development until construction had started and that Wiltshire Council had failed to consult English Heritage.

The judge said the impact on the listed building and its setting carried significant weight in the ruling and he ordered Wiltshire Council to reconsider the application for the site.

The council could face a hefty bill from the developer if the array has to be taken down and land reinstated.
