Strategy needed to give industry chance to profit

Boosting returns from red meat is the theme of a free key conference to be staged near Tiverton, Devon on Friday, 9 December.

Cultivating the Future of the Red Meat Industry, intended for producers and processors, aims to point the way ahead to a more profitable future for south west beef and lamb production.

“The future of the south west livestock industry is hanging in the balance,” said Anthony Gibson, regional director NFU south west.

“We urgently need to formulate a strategy based on quality and competitive advantage that will give the industry the chance of a profitable future.

This conference will provide a powerful platform to achieve that.”

Organised by Tastes of the West, Meat South West and NFU, with sponsorship from the South West Regional Development Agency and media support from Farmers Weekly, the event takes place between 10am and 5pm.
