Strong demand for stores at Liskeard

A good entry of 135 smart store cattle sold to an outstanding trade on Tuesday (12 February), with all types in strong demand. “With many buyers in attendance, many more cattle could have been sold to take advantage of the buoyant trade,” said Kivells’ auctioneer Patrick Dennis.


A bunch of three 21-month-old South Devons topped the steer section at £1,375 apiece, with South Devons also topping the heifer trade at £1,172. Six to nine-month-old Blonde crosses sold from £650 to £790 a head. Overaall, steers avraged £920, with heifers settling at £800 each.


An entry of 79 draft ewes peaked at £68, with store hoggs selling to £47 and fat hoggs averaging 146p/kg.
